I've been using Firefox for a long-long time, but now its getting on my nerves. It is simply throwing up more problems than one could have bargained for. After showing a face that projected it as quick and smart, it is now going to things that are @!%$ing crazy. Click on the icon, and you could go out, make coffee, return and wait. Why? Because the browser is going to take a century to kick off. Okay, that was exaggerated, but the point is that it takes too long to start, same goes with closing it. Again, a long wait where the browser may close but the process keeps running in the background for no apparent reason.
Secondly, it seems to have taken a penchant to "hang". Open something in a tab, and God forbid, if you get a "Server not Found" page, you might as well hit yourself with a brick. Somehow, the browser goes unresponsive at these times and stays that way for quite a while. That is very irritating, especially when you are busy. The last thing you want at this time is an unresponsive browser.
Another factor driving me crazy is Firefox's apparent dislike for streamed videos. Somehow, it isn't easy to use the keyboard shortcut for opening a new tab while you are watching a video. That simply won't work. Hammer your keyboard, but the browser refuses to open a new tab. That isn't a big deal, but is troublesome nevertheless.
Opening two browser windows is simply an invitation to twice the trouble. My computer's configuration is good enough for the browser, the OS is fine, and I can't find anything else but Firefox to put the blame on.
I like the browser and have found it generally useful and good, but continuous trouble can be irritating. Experience tells me a very small number of FF users will have the same problem, but if there is something more bugging than lame ISPs, its browsers going lame. Whining and ranting apart, I could be kind of addicted to Firefox. Here are a few other browsers, and why I can't use them.
Opera - Good browser, great interface. The only problem is that it isn't compatible with many websites. The biggest plus: It supports torrents.
Flock: Ssslllllllooooooooooooowwwwww. Not a viable alternative.
IE: I wonder how I even managed to write this one. FUGLY.
There are many other browsers, but they generally have the same problem as Opera. Many sites don't work with them. But there is one browser I have been foolish enough not to try, maybe I'll check Safari out next.
